But it doesn't mean I'm worried about bricking camera. That being said, I don't use it when I'm shooting weddings because I can't 100% trust it. I've had rare occasions like yours, where the camera seems to be bricked, but just as you said, turn off the camera, take out the battery AND the cards, turn the switch to On and back to off w/o batterie and cards, put them back and turn it back on! I've been using ML on my 5DIII for a long time now. Or sometimes hackers store data in an "unused register" that actually gets used and they corrupt the whole boot. It's a hack, done by hackers, to do things Canon was a) too stupid to think of themselves b) thought might be harmful to there camera hardware and/or c) was not manufacturable because of nuances is internal timing that vary unit to unit. I think I'll Be keeping ML off.Īnyone else have similar issues with power on a 5D3 with 1.2.3 firmware and ML? Or am I the lucky one?Īftermarket firmware is not something Canon says is a cool accessory. This worked for me! As soon as I got the 5D3 back on, I removed ML immediately. The OP said his was working until he changed cards. This worked! I thought about uninstalling ML but I told myself "the enhancements are nice.I'll keep it on for now."Īfter about five time of this, I couldn't get the camera to power back on! I tried everything switching batteries, recharging batteries then switching batteries, pushed nearly every button, powered on/off 20 times.nothing, nada, DEAD! Dang, "I BRICKED MY NEW on the ML's site, a responder to a thread regarding a bricked 5D suggested the removal of the internal battery and then powering the camera back on. The only way to bring it out of sleep was to remove, then replace the battery. When the camera automatically went to sleep, I couldn't wake it back up with the shutter button or the power switch. I just about in my pants after loading Magic Lantern on my 5D3!Īfter downgrading the firmware to 1.2.3 from 1.3.3 and loading ML's nightly build, I immediately had problems.
